All,
It been a few weeks since my a93j, I have to say its been rollercoaster of bugs and problems.
Recent I have been having issues on my Ethernet with internet hangups, wifi has been fine.
Unfortunatly I have now isolated it to the Sony TV a93j (should have expected given the network has been working in my house without issue!), can see the issue clearly now when connecting the TV via Ethernet to my cinema room hub, kills my ethernet to every device on my network!
No idea if its now a fault or sw bug, happens with TV on or off!, sometimes I can clear the problem by reset the TV.
But given the random situation and impact to my whole network have now switched to using it on Wifi, (hopefully this will not now kill my wifi devices).
I really now on the edge of all the SW bugs on this TV, such a shame for what was a promising TV.
Sony should really acknolwdge some of the issues that the SW/Google TV is just not ready.
An HUB... mmm... Aniway, TV's has an IP Static address from your Router?
Using DHCP right now, I read some inputs that the ethernet port is limited to 100Mb, its on a GB Ethernet hunb, so giving it a try on a lower max speed hub and see if the problem goes away based on that.
Yes, LAN is 10/100.
DHCP is not the best, maybe an IP address only for TV's...
Yep will run this first and see if the problem is solved, if not fixed IP will be next to try.
Thx
Eddie
Hi Eddie, fill us in what happened? Also, did you try contacting Sony?
So far so good, since moving the TV onto a 100MB hub vs Gigbit ethernet hub no hangs for over week of usage.
So looks like a fix.
Will keep monitiring, but so far big improvement!
Hey @eddieseymour,
Just to clarify, so you changed the Internet HUB? or changed any of the Ethernet settings on the TV itself?
And, are you using any kind of extension cables/adaptors?
Also, as far as I know, Sony TVs struggle with 5YG, correct?
Cheers.
Hi,
To Clarify, I actually have two hubs, Gigbit Ethernet and 100mb Hub, same make Netgear.
I simply moved the cable to the TV from the Gbit port to 100Mb port on hub. So all cabling (which I tried multiple connections in the past) is the same, so basically everything is the same except now its just on a 100mb port vs a Gbit port.
FYI the 100mb Hub is actually connected to the same GBbit ethernet on 1 of the ports.
So summerize TV to 100Mbit port, 100Mbit switch to GBit Switch to the router
Hope that helps.
Oh cool, that's really helpful.
So, in theory it confirms that Sony TVs cannot handle super high speeds.
I think this is related to the card they're using, whether it's WIFI or Ethernet.
But, thanks a lot for the info.
Cheers.
