UKTV play on Sony Android TV

I've got a 2015 Sony Android TV. Is it possible to get the UKTV player app? I thought it was part of Youview but it doesn't show in that section.

I agree it's an omission on Sony/UKTV's part... But his link sorted it for me. Icon on the home page and everything.

Took about 15mins.

One reason I got an Android TV was for the apps, and a belief that if something wasn't there automatically and was popular, someone would have a fix. 

So far so good (except for programme guides :)).

I am new to Sony’s Android OS and its limitations . Could someone please explain how to use SonyTelly50's link. I have downloaded it, but how and where do I install it it on my tv? Thanks.

Why are you tagging on to a thread that is over 7 years old and the last post previous to yours was in 2019.

The information and the link you are asking about probably bears no relation to modern Sony TVs and the Android version they use now.

You would have been better creating a new question detailing exactly what you want.

I take it you have a new Sony TV please can you tell us the model number of it.

What Software version is it running.

If you are looking for the UKTV app then you must know that UKTV changed its name a few months ago to U,

and the channels that operate under its umbrella are called U + Dave, U + Drama etc etc etc.

The U app should already be on your TV and accused through the YouView and Catch up service on the TV.

If you set the TV to the YouView and Catchup service from Settings> Channel & Inputs> TV Button Shortcut

> Digital and select Live Tv & Catch Up.

Come out of Settings. Click the TV button on the remote, the should switch over to YouView and under Featured apps you should see U, click on that and then enter your details to activate your account.

Thanks for your help. The TV is a KD-43X75WL. The U channel is not available on YouView—could this be because I do not have a conventional aerial connected, just a feed from my old Sky satellite dish?

Yes I probably think that would be the case, again including this information in your first post would have been useful.

It might be best to contact whoever is supplying your satellite channels to see if they have a catch up service available.

Who is supplying your satellite feed, you mentioned it being an old Sky dish so I am presuming you have had the

Sky LNB removed for a free service LNB, perhaps Freesat.

If catchup is available you should be able to access previous U broadcasts by entering the onscreen YouView TV guide.

For example go to U + Dave click left to Storage Hunters UK 7:15 - 7:40AM if the programme or any other programmes are available for catchup watching you should see a right pointing arrow head inside an almost complete circle. click on that and the U app if it is available should launch, you will need to register and either scan a QR code on your phone or enter an alphanumeric code into a webpage on your computer.
