My RX100 seems to autofocus constantly and in a very noisy and annoying way. It is never silent. Pictues sharp thou. I understand there is an update from 2015 concerning this but this update didn´t work for me (Mac).
The camera has served well since 2013 and perhaps it is time for a RX100VA...?
Hi Olmbridge,
Welcome to the community.
I'll see if I can find this out for you. Maybe someone else in the community can help in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi Olmbridge,
I believe the update is required to improve the performance of the camera. What happens when you try to install the update? What is the version of Mac you're using?

I have tried macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. It was not compatible.
Then I tried OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. It worked well to begin with;
then I got an error message like “something went wrong “.
Hi Olmbridge,
I've just checked the update page and I can see that macOs High Sierra is not supported.
The compatible operating systems listed are Mac OS X v.10.6 ~ 10.10.
Could you try to download the Software using a computer that runs one of the compatible systems and let us know if it has made any difference?
Cheers,

Hi, I'm wondering if you mean that it seems to be focussing on anything you point it at, even though you aren't touching the controls. My RX100M4 did that when I first got it. There is a setting under the gear icon (Custom Settings' on tab 3 at the top - it's called 'Pre-AF'. If you have the same setting, try turning it off and see if that solves your problem
