I have a DSC-W80 camera. I can shoot movies just fine. I connect the supplied USB to camera port cable to my laptop computer. I can view the movies, still shots and download & save to the computer just fine. I see that any movie I shoot leaves a .THM file. I delete the file on my computer. My question- is it possible & safe to delete the .THM files that are stored in the camera? I'm sure those files are taking up memory space in the camera.
Hi hgw53t,
Welcome to the community.
I'll look into this for you and see if I can find out. Someone else in the community may be able to advise in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Thank you & I would really appreciate that. I will keep in touch.

You shouldn't do that as those thumbnail files are used for the index screen when viewing your images/movies on the camera's display. Yes, those THM files do need some space but it won't be that much. However, I don't know their actual size on your camera.

Hi Hgw53t ,
I totally agree with Darkframe. The THM file is a thumbnail image generated by the camera when you take a video . It helps you to browse the list of available videos by saving the first frame of it. So, they shouldn't be deleted.
