I just bought a Sony HT-G700 soundbar to go with my LG C1 TV. The sound from the bar is ok (not fantastic) when playing 4k stuff from the bluray player/Amazon Prime/Netflix, but it's very poor when playing anything from Sky, HD or SD. the sound is very "tinny", & any background music drowns out the speech, with the 'voice' button pressed the overall sound is even worse.
The soundbar is connected to the TV via a good quality HDMI cable via ARC. If i can't resolve the issue, I'm going to have to return the soundbar & try another make.
