As reported in a lot of other places, Dolby Vision on Netflix on some Sony TVs is dark, bland and lacking in contrast. I've tried what feels like all the settings with no improvement. One way around is to drop the broadcast quality from Netflix so it's not in DV... looks way brighter (as it should look) but it's then only in 720.
So the option is 4K+DV+dark or 720+bright. Not a great choice.
Newer Sony TVs have a Netflix calibration mode. Has anyone found a way to get a decent DV picture from Netflix on an XE93?
The latest TV firmware update from Sony mentioned improved DV quality... I saw no difference.
Hi matlumb,
I'll see what I can find out about this. Someone else in the community may be able to advise in the meantime?
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi Matlumb,
Have you tried changing the whole TV's picture settings? I found some useful information about the picture modes on the Sony Website. You can check them using this link: https://bit.ly/2ExAsGA

Thanks for the reply.
The main profiles (Cinema pro, vivid, etc.) aren't available in a Dolby Vision source. There's Brightness (on max) and Colour (50) and then the ones under Advanced, and I've tried changing all of those with no success. Raising Gamma to combat lowering Blacks means the colours go weird. All the 'auto' settings are switched off.
Hi Matlumb ,
Can you provide a picture showing how the video looks like?
Cheers,
