Soundbar HT-MT500

After some advice if possible.

 

Bought a HT-MT500 soundbar. Connected to an LG tv, LG43UH620V.

 

At the start it worked fine, sounds sync’d with tv etc. Am now having a few issues:

 

a. Soundbar no longer turns on automatically with tv

b. Takes an absolute age to turn on - message “Please Wait” keeps appearing for up to 5 minutes then soundbar turns itself off with message “Auto Standby” showing

c. If soundbar does finally turn itself on the sound does not match with tv

 

Appreciate any advice someone might be able to give.

I purchased a Sony HT-MT500 from John Lewis. After approximately five months the sound and picture went out of sync. John Lewis sent it off for repair but it took almost three months and many phone calls before it was returned.

Not had to pay for the repair previously, but someone on here said they've been quoted £170, though I don't know the repair reason... I would expect it to be around that... (may be worth contacting the Sony repair service team local to you to get an idea...)

Exactly the same is happening to mine. Did you ever get this resolved? If so how. Mine is less than 1 year old.

Resolved the issue by getting a refund and buying an LG Soundbar!

Gone out of sync again. This product should be blacklisted, definitely not
fit for purpose.

Yep - Mine is only 6 months old but has needed to be sent away for repair. They seem to think it will need a completely new PCB Board....not impressed, would expect better from Sony. Should receive it back in 7 days

Just got the sound bar back from repair. And yes it needed a complete new PCB Board. Because I bought it from John Lewis it had a 2 year guarantee luckily because otherwise this would of been very expensive to repair. We’ll never know if Sony has since updates the fault on the new versions or indeed if this repair will last but I guess I’ll find out if not!!

I'm another one who bought this soundbar in 2018. Failed in November 2019 when just out of warranty. Had the motherboard changed by a Sony recommended service centre in February 2020. Failed again August 2020 when out of repair warranty! 

 

Same issue. Completely dead. Pressing home button opens blank screen. No way to update firmware, even if any existed (which it doesn't because Sony seems to had stripped any reference to this product off their website).

 

I'm giving up now and will probably look at one of the new Sonos bars that look similarly compact.

Thanks for giving this your attention, much appreciated.

 

It doesn't really help me, though, because the unit is completely dead and requires third new motherboard. I'm giving up on Sony soundbars now.
