STR DN1060

I see the following feature for the AV STR DN1060: Stream music from receiver to wireless headphones. Stream your favorite music from the receiver directly to a pair of compatible Bluetooth headphones, a great solution when the rest of the house is asleep What Sony headphones would be suggested for this feature for use at home? Also what are the requirements for such a headphone to work? Many thanks. Regards Shay

Hi Shay,

Lucky you having a STR-DN1060, I only have the 1040 model myself! :((

This link will help you, there's several Bluetooth headphones to choose from. I believe you just pair the headphones with your new receiver to get it to work.

Many thanks, I'm wondering does it need to meet any particular Bluetooth protocol. I know that some wireless headphones have a transmitter that you need to connect to your output device, in this case the DN1060. But I'm assuming this type of wireless headphone set up is not required. But I'm not sure.

I can really only make an educated guess on this one but I would suspect that since both devices are 'new' Sony products the headphones will most likely have the Bluetooth transmitter built in, much like a mobile phone has. Having a seperate transmitter seems like old technology to me. Have you tried looking at the specifications or user manuals?

Incidentally I've just looked back at the link I provided earlier and this model has the following useful feature (shown in red below)

ZX770BN Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones

No cables, less distractions, more music MDR-ZX770BN

Around-the-ear wireless headphones with built-in Bluetooth and digital noise cancelling

  • Simplified Bluetooth connectivity with NFC One-touch

NFC stands for 'Near Field Communication' which basically means that you touch the headphones against another NFC equipped device to pair the two together. In essence this simplifies pairing. You'll likely be pleased to know that the STR-DN1060 also supports NFC.

If you want to take a peak at the DN1060 Manual you can download them here: Manuals

The headphone model I refer to above is one of several Bluetooth Headphone products on offer, you can view the manual for this particular model here: Manuals

Hoping that helps, if so please click the 'Accepted Solution' button below this post.

All the best!

Hi MK Slinky,

No manuals available online yet for the 1060 that I can find. I might ring their product specialists at the online store.

Regards

Hi Shay,

The links I provided earlier show you some of the manuals for this model however having checked the three on offer it seems the User Manual has yet to be posted.

Here's that link again in case you missed it above: STR-DN1060 Manuals

Admittedly these manuals don't really tell you much other than how to update the software or how to use the bluetooth. Incidentally if you buy headphones with the NFC feature you wouldn't need to pair them as shown in this manual.

Keep checking the above link, Sony will post the manual soon no doubt.

@Godin1

Hi there, I think you posted your reply to the wrong member, I'm not looking for any manuals myself.

I notice the member @shayfarrelly is though.
