Hi everyone,
I aplogise if this has been brought up before. I've tried searching this forum and the internet beyond, but so far no joy.
I recently bought a STR-DN1080 and overall I'm very happy with it. However I am having trouble connecting to it with the Music Centre app. It will connect fine using Bluetooth, and I used the app to set up the 1080's wifi connection to our network. This also worked ok.
Unfortunately now the app cannot find the 1080 on the wifi anymore, only via Bluetooth. I've also tried a generic "Audio Remote" app with the same problem, even though it worked ok before. Other apps work fine over wifi, for example I can "cast" using Tuned In or Chromecast with no problems. I suspect the problems may have started after the 1080 decided to update its software.
Has anyone else experienced this, or can offer any advice?

Do you have access to another phone or any other device that can use the app? If you've already tried using a different device with it, was it the same result?
Yes.
Same results with my OnePlus 8 Pro and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Note S20 Plus. Fully updated etc.
If this farce has gone the same way as the STR-DN1050, which I am unfortunate enough to own, it could well be that Sony has allowed the tablet/phone app to be updated such that it no longer supports the device.
Quick summary of my experience:
-Bought the STR-DN1050, where even the shipping carton lists its features, including "app" control
-It worked for a while
-Sony then updated the app and my device was no longer supported
-No alternative option offered by Sony
-I took this up with customer services, who were no help whatsoever, and suggested the fault was not theirs to fix, as a 3rd party developer had changed the code. I reminded Sony the product still carries their brand name and they should have accountability. Got nowhere.
-I now have much less app control over my STR-DN1050. Thanks for that Sony.
I currently use AudioRemote on iPad, which appears to be v2.3.1 & does not have the EQ controls that SongPal did.
