Dolby Atmos

When I use the dedicated Prime and Netflix buttons on my Z9J remote control I can only get Dolby Surround via my Arcam amp. If I access them via my Apple TV box for the same programmes I can get Dolby Atmos sound. Does anyone know why this is?

In the TV MENU try to select "ARC" and not "eARC Auto"...

Have tried your suggestion but when I choose HDMI signal format the only option for HDMI 3 is shown as, (eARC/ARC) there is no option to select ARC.

[Settings] — [Display & Sound] — [Audio output] — [eARC mode] — [ARC]

Or try also the Pass through:
[Settings] — [Display & Sound] — [Audio output] — [Pass through mode] — [On].

Tried the first option but the amp displayed Dolby Surround, with the second the options were auto or off and the tv was set to auto.

Some progress! Using the calibrated Netflix option the audio displayed in the programme description has changed from 5.1 to Dolby Atmos. Checking the  audio options, English Atmos is ticked, but the Arcam amp is still displaying Dolby Surround.

@davidc161, so the TV is displaying atmos, the amp is displaying surround? It seems an issue with the amp, is it updated? Do you still get the same outcome from the Apple box?

It appears that the Prime and  Netflix apps on the Sony tv don’t support Dolby Atmos. The problem can’t be the Arcam amp as it displays Dolby Atmos when using both the Apple TV and Sky Q.

Hey there, 

 

If the TV supports Atmos, then it should work on the applications regardless. 

I can see there's a new software released for your TV have you tested it? 

Also, did you try to play the content from an external device or not?
