Hi All.
I am having issues viewing cable tv channels on Sony kdl-42w815B. PS I have performed factory reset and also checked for OTS firmware updates. The Firmware version on the TV is PKG3.004EUA
We have a basic cable TV connection. I have performed auto scanning of both digital and analogue channels multiple times. The channel list shows 150+ digital channels and 35 Analogue channels after tuning is complete.
However, out of 150 digital channels only 5-6 channels show video+audio and reset of the channels show blank screen with NO video or audio. I can see the channel name so I know that it has been tuned/detected. Pressing info button shows message "Selected service is scrambled or can not be decoded". Furthermore, video format is blank and audio is listed as HE-AAC. The 5-6 channels that do work show 10080i for video and English 2/0 for audio.
Switching to analogue channels i can see video but there no audio just a static noise. Here the video is listed as 1080i and audio is showing as English 2/0 in the info screen. BTW these analogue channels worked properly before performing factory reset.
How can I properly tune the TV so that I can view both digital and analogue channel.
Hey @Sadden6291, have you tested the same cable with different TV to confirm that it currently works? You can also try to update the software to v3.006 and test again.
Hi @Piscie
sadly, I don't have access to another TV so i am stuck with this one.
The TV is connected to WiFI and OTA update doesn't work. It keeps saying something like no new update is available.
So I manually downloaded the firmware you mentioned and tried to install via USB however TV fails to update.
The USB gets detected and I see "copying files from USB to TV" message however after few minutes it just says "error occurred remove USB". There are NO further details.
To rule out USB issues, I will try a different USB tomorrow to see if that helps with software update.
I have now updated the software but the sound issue with Analogue channels is still there.
Now I also have and additional problem - all the digital channels have disappeared and retuning doesn't detect any digital channels which were previously working/not working.
@Sadden6291, I'd actually recommend checking the cable with an antenna specialist to double check its performance for you. If it's working as it should, try reaching out to the Sony reps directly, maybe the TV needs a physical inspection.
