Hello Community,
I would just like to make a comment about something I have just recently fallen foul of.
I purchsed a Sony XR42A90K OLED tv with the expectation to wall mount the TV and hiding the power cable.
Unfortunately the power lead is hard wired at the TV end and the plug is moulded to the other end of the lead. I wall wounted the TV wanting to conceal cabling in the dry wall cavity. To do this I had to remove and replace the 3-pin moulded plug as i believed un attaching from TV end would void the warranty. As it happens Sony support have just informed me because I changed the moulded plug I have also voided the warranty, so please be aware of this when wall mounting.
I am a disgruntled cutomer to say the least now having £1,200 worth of TV that should anything go wrong in next 10 month will be £1,200 pile of scrap. Thanks very much Sony ...

@Steamyb, as far as I know replacing the moulded Plug may void the warranty unfortunately 😞 Hopefully the TV won't go wrong so it won't be an issue for you!
Hi @Steamyb
Why did you tell Sony that you replaced the moulded plug? What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Certainly the repair engineer (if needed) wouldn’t care!
You can always buy a replacement lead with a moulded plug, as a spare and to use in the event of a warranty claim.
With hindsight you could have bought a C7 power lead which are available from anywhere and embedded that in your wall.
Hi and thanks for responding.
In answer to your questions.
1. You’re right I’m an idiot, I should not have said anything .. I was told this by an engineer that came out for another issue but I didn’t believe him so I contacted support for clarification as even some consumer rights folk still believe that it would not void the warranty as plugs often get replaced following damage or installation restrictions.
2. Unfortunately my TV does not use the regular “fig 8” connection to back of TV but is hardwired with a special connector. I could not determine which replacement lead to purchase and the only alternative was to remove plug. Feed cable through and replace with new plug using same fuse.
lesson learned in future. .. go for a tv brand / model with easily replaced power cable.
