Hi, I have a Sony XR-65A90J OLED TV AMS noticed that movies running in Bravia Core were buffering. Running Speedtest I found that the TV was getting less than 80mbps on average from its wired Ethernet connection, where Sony recommend at least 115 mps for lossless streaming.
I have a fibre broadband service which gives me 650mbps, and running the same Speedtest app on my 4K Apple TV bears this out, yet I’m only getting about a tenth of this on the Sony. Searching the internet I found that Sony cap the Ethernet on their TVs at 100mps, which probably explains the problem. For most services like Apple TV+ or Disney, I can use the Apple TV to stream, but for Sony’s own Bravia Core application I cannot.
Has anyone else had this issue and found a way of resolving this? I found one YouTube post that suggests using an Ethernet to USB Adapter, but the ones I’ve looked at say that they’re not compatible with Smart TVs.
With my XBR65A9F I have better speeds with Wi-Fi not Ethernet.
Hi,
I got an X90H 65" Sony Bravia Android 9.
My TV Wifi gets a speed of 250 Mbps. But I was still trying to somehow make the ethernet link work using an USB to ethernet adapter to get upto 500Mbps since my ISP provides that bandwidth .
I tried with Ugreen driverless USB ethernet Gig Converter. it didnt work. Still I am trying to find a solution.
You can try different driverless USB ethernet converter and try.
