Hi private56 and welcome.

Which Vaio model do you have?

Is your model supported by Sony for Windows 8?

Did you use the Sony Vaio Windows 8 Upgrade Kit?

If not, how did you carry out the upgrade? Did you choose to keep Windows Settings, Applications and data?

Sony seem to say that only upgrades using the Sony Kit will work properly.

If you give us the full Vaio model we can look to see if there is a Win8 Upgrade for the PowerDVD program and a set of chipset drivers available for download.

I have an SVE1711X1EB which is almost the same as your model number. I did upgrade to Windows 8 using the Sony Kit and the got the follwoing message when playing a shop bought blu-ray disk

The integrity of Cyberlink PowerDVD is under threat. Check your anti-virus software for malicious activities or try reinstalling Cyberlink PowerDVD.

I reported this to Sony and they sent me 3 links to download 3 upgrades to Cyberlink. Only 2 of the links worked and Sony confirmed that one of the links.was indeed broken. I installed the 2 updates to Cyberlink and now I get

CybeLlink PowerDVD does not support the playback of this media format

Sony now say I should restore my computer to factory settings which i am pretty sure will sort the problem because that willput me back to Windows 7. Not something I'm too keen on.

What messages are you getting? If it is happening to everyone with this model of computer then Sony need to do something about it.
