Hi
I have a sony viao VGC-V2M.
It has 512mb of RAM (DDR400)
Intel R 4 CPU 2.99 GHz
I wish to upgrade memory but get conflicting advice from websites.
Can I:
1. Go to 2 GB as per stated by Crucial.com (using DDR 3200)
or
2. Do I have to stick with 1GB as stated by Offtek?
Finally I go the 1GB route do I have to buy a 'matched pair' of 512mb modules? This seems to be a requirement because of something called 'dual mode' which I do not have a clue means!
Thank you
Mike

Hi Mike,
welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:
According to the Sony Specifications for VGC-V2M your vaio supports a maximum of 1GB of RAM..
I wouldn't recommend exceeding the maximum supported RAM but if you decide to take the risk, Crucial do offer a money back guarantee & looking through the reviews on the Crucial site it seems others have succesfully installed 2GB however the choice to install more than the recommended 1GB would have to be yours..

Hi
Thank you for the prompt answer.
I will probably not exceed the spec. due to probability of trashing the machine.
Regards
Mike
