Vaio Care seems to have disappered from my laptop - so the assist button doesn't do anything.
Where can I download a replacement from?
Cheers
Good luck. I am presently going through the process of trying to get Sony support for a fancy Vaio that "just died" - and after a week of proving purchase and warranty, I have got nothing but high blood pressure and frustration. These people have no concept of customer service.
Hi milyszy and welcome.
Which Vaio model do you have?
SVE1511A1EB
Go to the Support Pages for your model and under 'Downloads' under Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities you will find Vaio Care available for download.
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/SVE1511A1EB/updates
Follow the instructions to install. If you have uninstalled any other programs you will have to reinstall all dependent programs like the Hotkey Utilities.
Well, I did it anyway.
Nothing has changed. Assist still doesn't do anything and VAIO Care isn't available in'All Programs'
Interesting - I guess they have copied and pasted from the US Website.
It will probably be OK but I think you should phone or email Vaio Support to confirm.
Click on 'Support' at the top of this page
Choose 'Online Support
Click on 'Contact Us' at the bottom of the next page
Click on 'Vaio and Computing'
Enter your Vaio's Serial Number
You will be shown Phone, Email and Chat support details.
In the meantime I will also email Sony to let them know (if they don't already).
Good answer.
Should I ignore this?
This utility is only for use with the following Sony VAIO® Computers sold in the United States, Canada and Latin America:
Do not install this utility with any other model of computer (including other Sony computers sold worldwide)
Ah well.
No install worked, so I restored the system back to when I first bought it.
Bah!
