Anyone encountered a message on start up saying that the computer cannot start up. It gives a whole page of references but no options. On force closing and retrying a page with 2 options comes up, one offers to diagnose and correct fault which after 30 minutes says no faults found, the second option offers to start normally ,which it does. Its happened 4 times now and Sony say remove all programmes and reloadiincluding the installed windows 7. I dont want to do this as I don't have access to the windows originaly installed.
Has anyone encountered this. Any help would be appreciated
Model Viao VPCEH2POE laptop.
Thanks
Hi KENCARMAN,
If possible it would be handy to know the references you are receiving as this may give a clue as to whether it is OS/software/hardware related.
You say that you don’t have access to the originally installed Windows. Is this because you have formatted the hard drive and installed a different OS or because you did not create your recovery media? If the latter, and even the former if the hidden recovery partition is intact, you may still be able to revert to factory settings by either pressing and holding F10 at boot or, if your model has an Assist button, press this when fully shut down – either option will offer a ‘return to factory settings’.

Edit: If you have any external devices connected (USB or otherwise) try removing these before booting.
