XL series ready for Vista SP1 ?

Hello,

I have the following problems with my XL201 and XP MCE, and am considering the upgrade (blank install) to Vista SP1....

MCE corrupt programme guides every 2 weeks or so. Sooooo annoying!
no video over HDMI after standby (even after HDMI firmware upgrade)
MCE loss of connection to Hauppauge card now and again
sound switches from HDMI to Dolby Dig of its own accord and is fiddly to switch back

I'd also like to stream non-HD video to a Vista compatible extender over a mains-plug network connection, but don't know how reliable this will be.

Will Vista premium upgrade edition work if i format the C drive first?

Thoughts from members appreciated! Thanks, Chalky

Never had this with Vista.

Yep, still got this. I have resorted to always on.

Never had this with Vista - even when I was trying standby.

In Vista you only get two options; analogue line-out or SPDIF/HDMI. With SPDIF/HDMI you get both at the same time all the time.

I have no experience of this but the current generation are meant to be very good. The AV class models are capable of HD too.

No, you need an existing Windows installation to upgrade. I believe there is a workaround where you install Vista first without activating and then "upgrade" this with your key. It means installing twice, but it is a clean as you can get with that edition.
