Black screen when making a phone call

Whenever I make a phone call from my Xperia XZ2 my screen goes black and I have problems trying to get the key pad up to make a selection and then to end the call I'm having to turn off my phone.

Hi @SLK1, sorry to hear about this.

The proximity sensor should as standard only turn the screen off during a call when the sensor is covered, for example, by your ear and once the device is removed from the ear, it should turn the screen on.

On the link below you can see where the sensor is placed (number 2). Make sure that nothing is covering the sensor, such as a case or screen protector. You can also wipe the area with a clean dry cloth.

There is also a test for the sensor that you can find in Settings > Support > Xperia tests > Ear proximity.
