message not sent phone number formatted incorrectly

Hello

Just got the xz premium last night and only today found that I cannot send text messages.

Whenever I try to send a text to any of my contact I get the following message at the bottom of the screen "message not sent phone number formatted incorrectly".

However I can still recieve text and call.

I've tried removing contact and adding them again, restarting the phone, clearing the cache and data, uninstalling and reinstalling the default andriod messenger also have attempted to try other sms/message apps but the problem still persist.

Was wondering if anyone has the same problem? or solution.

These images I've screenshoted. If that helps.

@Huugen

As you can see on your screenshot, your phone its' not connected to a carrier network, you can't send texts through WiFi

@uliwooly, They are connected to a carrier, but mobile data is not enabled which is what the X above the signal strength is representing.

@Huugen, are you able to send a text message if you manually enter the number, rather than selecting from your contacts list?

@CameronT The results are the same when I try to enter the number manually. Slightly_frowning_Face

@uliwooly Thank you for trying to help.

Ah how did you highlight our username...I don't post in forums often.

@Huugen, try entering your country code, without any leading 0's in the number.

For example (for Australia): +61440123456

The name linking enables when you reach a certain forum rank Slightly_smiling_Face It will be disabled for now.

@CameronT, Still giving me the same error. ;(

Ah then I'll just have to settle with the not so special name linking Crying_Face

Thank you for taking your time out to help.

I'm happy to Slightly_smiling_Face

I have looked into your case and can see we have suggested you try a couple of things already. Were you able to test it in safe mode and check your service centre number with your network?

Crying_Face I have tried those methods I stated above in safe mode and those screenshots were also taken in safe mode (that slipped my mind and I forgot to mention sorry :smileysad:)

I called up service network and they pretty much told me to contact sony

Whether this problem gets resolved or not I am very grateful for the help and support you have given so far. :smileysmileythumbsup:

Safe mode normally has a tag in the corner that says "Safe Mode" which I don't see. I wonder if it was done correctly? Could you please try again to be sure? Hold down the power button, then hold down the "Power off" option on the screen. It will ask you if you wish to boot to Safe mode.
It should look something like this when you are in safe mode:
