Hi all, I just bought the xz2 compact (my 3rd Sony as I've been very happy with my z3c and z5c) and noticed a problem. The microphone is working fine when placing calls either with my network or via internet (whatsapp, etc), but as soon as I swap to speaker mode the mic goes very quiet for the other side... To the point where they can only barely hear me even when their sound is turned high. I've tried restarting the phone and disabling Google as some other forums suggested, but this did not work. Using Bluetooth headphones worked fine too so there is obviously a problem with the microphone on speaker mode.
Anyone else having this issue? Or any advice? I also tried the microphone test on the actual device and it was also very quiet. Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem. I reseted the phone and also used Xperia companion to repair it. But all didn't work. It is not only an issue for WhatsApp, but also WeChat and LINE. I wrote to the Sony mobile email, but I didn't get any help yet. In my case the mic works perfectly (also in loudspeaker mode) when I do normal calls with it. So if anybody had a solution, it would be great, since it is kinda annoying.
BTW. I got a white silver phone, bought last week....
I also have the silver color with the Dual Sim/SD card version (H8324). I should note I'm in the US on the T-Mobile network at the moment and having no problems with the network making and receiving calls.
As an update, I tried Skype and Messenger in speaker mode too. Skype is absolutely fine. Messenger isn't as loud and the call quality isn't as good as Skype, but still better than Whatsapp where no one can hear me when I turn on speaker.
Yes I am experiencing this problem too... Black xz2 compact. Any solutions?
Nothing so far... Honestly, I'm just not using speaker mode and where needed using headphones (bluetooth or adapter).

I noticed the google assistant is not listening while playing anything on the speakers so it may be the same issue.

Hi. It looks like recent updates have resolved the issue for me.
Sama problem. Since few months a go. Already tried software repair, restart, hard reset, uninstall potential apps, etc. Now still cant. Please help.
