Quick questions, quick replies; ask anything about the Xperia XZ1!

Hello everyone!

We tried out a new concept where we mainly let our community assist each other with product/feature questions in the Xperia XZ Premium board and it was a success! So, let's keep it rolling. Slightly_smiling_Face

The purpose of this thread is to ask anything that you wish to know about the Xperia XZ1; other users owning an Xperia XZ1 and forum staff will do our best to reply!

As an example, prior to purchasing an Xperia XZ1, you may be wondering if someone has tried out a specific third party app or feature on their XZ1, and could tell you a bit more about the compatibility and functionality as the app may important in your daily life. Staff and other users can come in and reply and let you know how it works!

The goal of this thread is to help each other out as a community. We will try to moderate this thread so that any new threads with a fitting question will instead be moved here, while we of course keep support threads the way they are now.

NOTE:
Support related questions, such as raising concerns and troubleshooting are best suited in a different thread/their own thread. Please try to see if there is a thread regarding your concern, and if not, feel free to create one! smile happy

Sony is one of the best in "smartphones cameras" section. Sony always or often winning awards in "smartphone cameras" nominations. In DxOMark Sony is often in the top of the best smartphone's cameras chart. As you can see at this moment Sony model Sony Xperia XZ Premium is one of leader.  Untill Samsung did not released theirs 2017 flagship - Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Apple did not released Apple iPhone 8 Plus or Google Pixel 2, in this chart top was Sony's device. So keep in mind that competitors don't sleep too. It's like circle at these days in the top is Samsung, iPhone, when Sony will release next flagship, i'm sure again in the top will be Sony's device. Also is one detail in this story - competitors buying lens - that's right from Sony. So as i wrote Sony is one of leader in "smartphone's cameras" section and everybody that's know. By the way did you know that after Samsung Note 7 blowed several times, Samsung decided to buy batteries from Sony too? So it's 2 details which Sony selling to competitors... So looks like you don't know what is good cameras, but don't worry that's why there are a lot of experts, reviews and opinions from people which really know what is good camera... Sony what have in theirs devices and where is one of leader - that's smartphone's cameras Slightly_smiling_Face

My advise too you that yours grandchild will not be informated wrong - read more technologies news, reviews and ect., about Sony's product, coz looks like you are informated wrong and not from right sources and you don't know what is GOOD CAMERA and who is one of leader Slightly_smiling_Face

Even mine Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual smartphone doing the same quality pictures in low light as Samsung S6 Edge+ and very similar in daylight (for me Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual doing more realistic pictures, Samsung's owner siad that he/she like more artificially coloured pictures), Samsung S6 Edge+ is flagship model, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual is super mid-range model... So maybe time to be interested more in this section to you and don't write nonsenses and lies here anymore? Slightly_smiling_Face

Does Sony plan to fundamentally work on their horrible algorithms, or sony just put a new sensor with old crappy algorithms..? People compared the Z3 vs XZP and XZ1 in any manual settings, and found that, in detail, it`s inferior to the old flagship.

But this makes you think seriously about buying the Sony flagship phones.  With such algorithms, XZP XZ1 not needVegetation_Nokia808PureView_DxOMark2015_04-00.jpg290-1 (2.jpgV1.jpgzzzzx1.png

Firstly, I know perfectly well what a good camera is and just as well I know that Xperia on this parameter was NEVER considered a good photo solution, I emphasize - Photo solution! The fact that you sent me some links that do not talk about anything .. I remember the review from CNET, which called the XZ camera much worse than last year's Galaxy S7. On Phonearena, Xperia, always lose in camera comparisons to their competitors and there was always a lot of criticism of the camera, and specifically to its awful algorithms. If in reviews praise xperia camera, after that, you'll surely hear: But, nevertheless, galaxy and iphone, takes better photos, this is the classic of the genre. )
You probably don`t participate in the forums of mobile photography, otherwise you would know how the participants scoff at the quality of photos with xperia. Only under ideal conditions, can show a good result, but with cloudy weather and lack of lighting, Sony shows itself very, very much at a weak level, I would say, at the level of cameras cheap Chinese smartphones. Xperia has the best modules, and they are bypassed by cameras with much simpler modules.
Now about your Dxomark .... From the very beginning, no one understood what for, these guys put such weak cameras on top of the rating. This was not understood by both bloggers and xperia owners. In the manual mode, they show the same result as their competitors in auto)
And in the second DXO all shoot on a tripod, which is not correct. And thirdly, they have now changed the standard of their tests and they evaluate the cameras by algorithms and software capabilities. And here, the main problem of Xperia cameras surfaced and, therefore, they are significantly behind in the rating from competitors. And yes... Note 8, was presented at the same time as XZ1) And if you explain more, then please tell me why XZ Premium 2017, so behind in the ranking from Google Pixel wich was relise in 2016? ) And Apple iPhone 7 )) I'm not talking about the HTC U11, which came out at the same time with XZ Pr ...? Can you answer me this question?

If say true, about Xperia's problems in low light i heard not first time, yes i agree this is where need to work for Sony much more, but let me ask if you are professional photographer how often you doing pictures in night, where is really is low light with yours smartphone? Yes i don't coming in photographers forum and i'm not photographer, i like to do some pictures as many users, that's all, but even i know professional photographer working with DSLR if he/she want real PRO quality, even in low light, where Sony is one of leader too. Sony as you noticed is one of leader in smartphones cameras in good and perfect light,, the same i wanted to say too in older post. In low light is not so good, i agree with you, but as i mentioned before i had own test where i compared Samsung S6+ and my C5 Ultra Dual in low light, but thing which we captured wasn't so far from smartphones, so worked flash light, quality of both smartphone was the same, different is just one - Samsung is flagship, C5 Ultra - super mid-range. So i want to say with this my post don't judge manufactor for one or some models in which isn't camera which you expected. iPhone which expert calling as one of leader too, released iPhone 8 which look the same as iPhone 7, doing pictures the same and ect. This is not mean that Sony is not one of leader, leaders doing mistakes too. And where you posted pictures like example i don't trust in their so much, how i saw many Sony compares with other manufactors, some pictures looks better others, some Sony's, but not so like in yours pictures What you posted is looks like someone want to vilify Sony. Sony is not perfect, but remember these pictures isn't proof as Sony failure to create a good camera. We don't know how was did these picture and ect. I can say from my personal usage i did some pictures in auto mode with C5 Ultra Dual where one picture was autofocused very worst, but second was did perfect... So these pictures doesn't mean that Sony creating worst cameras... By the way i'm not trying to at any cost to protect honor of Sony, i'm just trying to don't to kick in one gate as you doing now. You think Samsung always doing good cameras? Iphones? Don't kidding me Grinning_Face

About DxoMark - most experts, people which really know about photographer work talking about this site like it's professional source about good cameras and ect., I did not dare to oppose in theirs test and result., even when most pro experts talking like that. It's the same as to impugn in antutu test. In forum in which you going and with guys which you talking i don't know, so yours opinion againts experts means nothing to me. Sorry for honesty, but as i siad i'm not photographer and people which really working with cameras, smartphone don't considered as a professional tool, they have DSRL and something like that. For my personality usage Sony smartphones complies with the requirements, this is smartphone, it's the same as from smartphone to require to be PRO soundsystem, PRO games console or TV with PRO system in it. This is for your daily usage - don't be so picky, look in everything much more easier Slightly_smiling_Face

P.S. Look in Sony's pics, it's zoomed, others models is not - zoom as i know distorts picture's :quality, maybe that' why Sony's looks so bad int these pics, as i siad it's sound much more like defamation, but not good proofs Slightly_smiling_Face

Good is good and bad is bad. Don't just change the topic from the smartphone's camera to DSLR, Mirrorless stuff. A comment like that won't change the fact.

The fact is Xperia's camera software is bad than it competitor in low light.

Here is one more evidence.

These two picture come from gsmarena's Xperia XZ1 compact review.

I don't changing topic, but it's silly to require DSRL quality from smartphone, if you want professional picture - choose DSRL, even in low light, that's all. It's the same as to require from smartphone to be TV or console. I saw GSMArena review too, these pictures isn't so worst in full size, as you trying to say, coz you zoomed it, zoom disorting picture's quality. Samsung did, not good, picture too and what? Apple is the best now or Huawei with Leica? Gosh... you know i think time to grow up for you and Stalker79 and others critics. All smartphones (or most of it) in good light doing good pictures, but all smartphones have the same problem in low light, that's why is HDR in smartphones or professional cameras as DSRL, mirror cameras and ect., but keep in mind there is no the same cameras with the same quality, even from the same manufactor, sometime one device doing it better picture as other, sometime other doing better... With the same device i did two pcitures as i siad with difficult quality in the same time and place. By the way if you saw all pictures which did GSMArena with Xperia XZ1 Compact, you should to see that selfie camera is not bad of XZ1 Compact, all others pictures looks good, maybe not perfect, but enough good and video is not bad. So maybe it's time to stop to be like child and it's enough to cavil with one or two bad pictures, even when already was talk about low light and these pictures was disorted by zooming. I will not say that Sony's problem is with algorythm as you wish with Stalker79, coz i don't know. I don't have enough competence to say that and to judge Sony. Yes there is place where need to improve, but the same i can say about all manufactors. So maybe let's end this pointless discuss, coz all we don't have right to judge Sony's. But let me ask, are you in real life are the same harasser and picky? Slightly_smiling_Face

P.S. Good is good, bad is bad??? Really? No darling impossible to be always good or bad, sometime you become good, sometime not... How old are you, really? Coz you think like child and so picky Slightly_smiling_Face

YOU WILL NOT CHANGE MY OPINION - SONY IS ONE OF LEADER IN:

1. Smartphone cameras

2. DSRL, MIrror cameras

3. TV

4. Console

5. Sound Systems (home system, headphones and ect)

That's all!!!
