Ugly display colors.

I bought this phone today and when i got home and started to look some photos and videos in i noticed that the screen colors are waaay to saturated. Especially orange, they probably boosted orange to make skintones pop more but people look like oempaloepas. There are 3 different colorprofiles in the settings, ugly, uglier and ugliest. The bad screencolors are really a big dissapointment and if i cant change this i have to sell this phone, ita useless for me since i work a lot with video's and images and i need an accurate screen.

Any way to manually tone the colors?

The screen is fine, the colorprofile is bad and makes the screen looks ugly.

Hi Freeheek,

I totally agree with you about the color calibration of the XZ's display. Together the Xperia X and X Performance, The XZ and X Compact have the worse display calibration.

This aspect is report by all sites of review with, in some cases, professional diagram of colors chart, grayscale and color accuracy. Example of these sites are Phone Arena, GSMArena, Notebookcheck.

The same for the camera shots; take a look to this site where is done a camera comparation between Xperia XZ, Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7.

https://recombu.com/mobile/article/sony-xperia-xz-camera-review-test-comparison-vs-iphone-7-vs-galax...

It's evident how the XZ produces oversatured shots. It is very worse to have a professional lens and can't use them as could done cause the display is not calibrated and the camera software too...!

This device with this display calibration is only for the children that want Samsung's display effect (oversaturation) and only play games or use FB and Whatsapp, but absolutely not for all that want use for photography.

Tha last more well calibrated display is the Z5 one, also if whites go to little pink, but colors are not saturated and the camera if more natural in contrast and dynamic range.

Only when Sony will return on Z line with a well calibrated display and camera, I will change my next Z5.

Thank for your reply and glad to see iam not the only one that thinks this calibration is horrible. I agree that with this settings they favour the everyday kind os use of the phone. But i payed a lot for this phone and for this price i would hope to see a phone that would atleast hve the options to choose your own profile. They tend to do that but all 3. Profipes look horrible. I do also art direction work and people send me style frames they made while iam on the road.. With my old phones i was able to judgde the work pretty well on a phone screen but not possible on this screen, the colors are just accurate enough and the thing is, this is probably easy to fix with just a small software update, all they have to do is drop the saturation of the screen by 2 5%...

Unfortunaltely Sony has take a bad way, less professional, more consumer and less premium. This is visible by the large amount of plastic that it uses for its device of X line and also for the oversatured and not accurate displays that uses.

I have an Xperia Z2 and now I will buy a Z5, the last great smartphone premium from Sony. I choose Sony for the premium materials, excellent display with a wider gamut of colors without saturation and the excellent sensor for photo. I love photography, I use my Z2 as a professional camera and the display is a lot accurate (as the Z5), but I never will buy the XZ cause its poor display's color accuracy (oversaturation) and the camera that meka shot overaturated as Samsung one. In addition, for 700€, I don't accept to see and touch plastic in the lateral frame (Samsung, Apple and the chinese make better in this)!

For me the color accuracy it's extremely important and I don't want a "toy" device for children!

Now I will buy a Z5 and I think remain with it since Sony give me (and most other users I know) a premium device in every aspect reopen the Z line.

I've had my new Xperia xz for less than a week. I've just come to use my phone and immediately noticed the colours on the display are washed out. I first thought it was my eyes! Got my partner to check also and yes the colour is awful. Looked through all screens plus photos and all terrible.
Checked my display settings and all as normal from when I first purchased the phone.
Any advice would be grateful.
