Xperia XZ Premium not charging and not starting

I have connected the phone to the USB lead and to a wall socket. A tiny red light comes on in the top left corner of the phone and a charging logo appears on the screen of the phone. This logo has one red bar on it. The logo then disappears, reappears a few seconds later and then disappears again. Then, about every 90 seconds the same logo, with red bar, reappears twice, and then disappears. I have left the phone on charge for about 12 hours and the phone will still not start up when I press the power button and hold it for 10 seconds, it does not vibrate.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong or what the problem is?

Hi @David160;

Have you tried a different cable/charger?

Is the USB port clean of dirt, lint or moisture?

Try the 2 minute restart (hold power + volume up buttons for 2 minutes, let it charge for some time then start the phone).

Follow this tips. and this.

Agree, I'd try a different power block.

I have tried a different lead and USB plug to charge the phone. The charging port and USB lead are clean and dry. I tried the 2 minute restart.

The same things happenned as before, the red bar is not flashing, shoud it flash. There were no vibrations when I tried the 2 minute restart.

What power bricks are you trying?

I have tried 2 different USB leads connected to 2 different USB plugs which were connected to the wall socket on the main electricity supply. They were not connected to a computer.

Hi,

i have a similar Problem (It still turns on) with my device which i already have an answer for, but i don't know if the same Problem applies to your device. In my case the Connector for the USB-C board was not making proper contact, only when applying extreme pressure on the Outside where the Spot is. I bought Replacement Connectors at https://rounded.com/sony-board-connector-btb-socket-2x10pin-1306-0093.html

Try pressing the bottom part (Red rectangle) while the Charging cable is attached. The no boot Problem could be due to too low battery in this case.

Hi,
I think I also have the same problem.  I changed to a new charging port but did not help.
But when I press that area very hard it starts charging.

How did you replace the connect board? looks like it's on the motherboard.

Thanks

If I had more time , I would provide pictures.

I had the same problem at well.

In fact, on Febuary 2019 I had to replace the reverse camera, the silver black cover , the silver cage(strached up) , and the side(buttons were strached too)  and usb port and that was pretty expensive to do becuase I had to take it into a repair shop.

It took me 3-4 weeks to get those parts from Amazon and China.

You dont have to do that.

If its not charging.

Step 0) Without the USB bieng plugged in ...

Step 1) Place your thumbs at the back of the phone, above the usb charger ( see picture)

Step 2) You press hard but dont break the phone. Do Not Break the Phone!

Why? There is a faultly connection / the phone expanded leaving the extenteral part not pressing down on the usb port inside.

z5-premium-back-chrome.jpgStep 3) Place a book , or Tomato Ketchup bottle or anything heavy on top of the back of the phone and you can charge it . Then you can do whatever arrends you want while you away from your phone.

Step 4) Make sure the red dot light or any light is on while its charging. Then you know its charging.

Thats it.

Phone is not bad. But that Android update **bleep**ed me over. I cant get rid of the black bar then I'm watching a movie full screen.

I will get a new phone in the future though. Not Sony though.

Having said that, I still get compliments on the silver cover now and again and I refuse to get a cover protection.
