HT-ZF9 SUB intermittantly not powering up

We have an HT-ZF9 soundbar with sub connecting to a bravia a80j tv. Most of the time all is fine and the soundbar and sub power on when tv powers on, but occasionally the soundbar has powered on fine but not the sub, but the sub does subsequently power on when using its own remote.

Anyone had this or any suggestions why this might happen.

@Andyh72, that usually indicated an issue with the signal between the bar and the woofer. Do you have other devices that might interfere near them?

Hi, the soundbar and sub are about 4ft apart, and the only objects between them are a dvd player but this has not been powered on on weeks and an Alexa.

Will move the Alexa and see if this helps, although tonight its all powered on ok, so seems totally intermittent

Well, since removing the Alexa I thought all was fine, as the sub seemed to be powering on fine, however its done the same again tonight in that the tv remote has powered up the soundbar but the sub has not powered on.

To get the sub working, I have had to use the soundbar remote to power the soundbar off, which then kicks in the tv speaker, then powered back on with soundbar remote and the sub powers on as expected...

Seems totally random so do not understand what else to do??

Should I be reporting this to Sony as a fault??

So right now the subwoofer is working fine or not? Cause your last 2 comments contradicting each other.

It's intermittant in terms of whether the sub powers up with the main soundbar via the sony tv remote.

8 out of 10 times it starts up fine, the other times it remains in standby but main bar runs fine.

In these instances I have to power the soundbar off with its own remote then power back on and to date every time I have done this the sub has then started ok.

And since it's been a few days now, is still still working fine? Or it went back to being intermittent.
