Creating folders / shortcuts to folders on homescreens

Hi, can anyone assist with the following problem ?  What I am trying to do is either creating a folder or a shortcut to a folder on one of the homescreens.  I find it strange that Sony thought of placing apps, widgets, wallpapers and others on a homescreens, however folders are not included on this list.

The Sony helpline have advised that app's are available in the Android Market to do this, if anyone has a suggestions

I'm sure there are other ways but one way is to use an app called ES File explorer - free download from Android Market.

For example if you were to take the Downloads, open ES File Explorer, and under Local, navigate to /mnt/sdcard

Touch and hold the downloads folder until an Operations panel opens. Select Shortcut - a shortcut will be created on your current pane.

To move shortcuts between panes, touch and hold the icon until it becomes mobile and then (continuing to hold) drag to the desired location on the required pane.

The same process aplies to files.
