Hello everyone!
We tried out a new concept where we mainly let our community assist each other with product/feature questions in the Xperia XZ Premium board and it was a success! So, let's keep it rolling.
The purpose of this thread is to ask anything that you wish to know about the Xperia XZ1; other users owning an Xperia XZ1 and forum staff will do our best to reply!
As an example, prior to purchasing an Xperia XZ1, you may be wondering if someone has tried out a specific third party app or feature on their XZ1, and could tell you a bit more about the compatibility and functionality as the app may important in your daily life. Staff and other users can come in and reply and let you know how it works!
The goal of this thread is to help each other out as a community. We will try to moderate this thread so that any new threads with a fitting question will instead be moved here, while we of course keep support threads the way they are now.
NOTE:
Support related questions, such as raising concerns and troubleshooting are best suited in a different thread/their own thread. Please try to see if there is a thread regarding your concern, and if not, feel free to create one!
Hi @Emi,
From the screenshots you may see that my XZ1 G8341 has "no idea" about Galileo. Tested with two apps - "GPS Data - location status fix" and the well know "GPS Test".
No raw photo format available
It shows a barometer value (in hPa) from internal sensor in the WheatherPro App .
Hello again @pavitradas, I have received some more information now regarding the missing White paper.
From September 2017, White papers will no longer be created for Xperia devices and will therefore not be available for download on the Support web site or the Developer World web site. The first products to be affected by the change are Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia XA1 Plus and it will apply to all future product releases.
You can find technical specifications on the product's web page which is accessible from the Product web site. If you are looking for any information that is not listed in the specifications, feel free to post a reply in this thread or send me a PM and I will do my best to assist you with this information!
Regarding the question about VoLTE. The Xperia XZ1 supports VoLTE, however your operator and subscription (incl. SIM card) must support VoLTE for the device model you're using and depending on operator, your phone or tablet must sometimes be operator-branded and/or use operator-customised system software.
To activate VoLTE if the operator and the phone supports this feature, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Preferred network type > LTE or 4G (preferred)/3G/GSM > drag the slider beside "Enable VoLTE" to the right.
If I understand correctly, your operator has not yet launched VoLTE, but they will do so in 2018? If that is correct, please stay in touch with them.
I hope that helps!
Thank you, @Jonas!
White pages were so nice to check in very deep detail about the specifications of every single device without be disturbed from extra pictures or videos or etc.. I'm an engineer by profession and like the simplicity - correct information written on a white page. I'll miss them.
About VoLTE, Yes, - waiting to be activated on spring time. The "Volte switch" is missing (you can check on the screenshot) but probably the switch could appear when network is ready to provide that service.
Hey, @Jonas,
One more screenshot from the integrated Android "phone info" menu (*#*#4636#*#*) - please check that "VoLTE Provisioned" flag is grey - in meaning is disabled. Not "off" but disabled. Looks like the android is not compiled with that. The same as "Video Calling" and "Wifi-Calling" for which I have no questions.
My list of sms threads dosnt show the contact info on the person in question, only the number..
When i enter a conversation the contact info is there, along with the picture.
Solutions?
Thx
Ha found out myself. Deleted land codes and - from numbers manuely
I have to jump in, since I've spent a month trying to untangle this.
@shefys wrote:I just received my XZ1 Dual (G8342). I'm in US and using T-Mobile - based on the comments above I was not able to find the answer: what is the status for VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and WiFi Calling for T-Mobile support? Should I return the phone or Sony is working on it and I can wait?
thanks.
Do NOT plan on having Xperia XZ1 (G8342) work with T-Mobile US VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. This may be due to Dual-SIM configuration of the modem (so that they could not just copy firmware implementation from Single-SIM XPERIA XZ1 Compact).
While the phone technically supports both technologies, and will work for carries in Europe, T-Mobile requires the phones to be certified to work with VoLTE over Band 12, when there is no 2G/3G coverage to place a call through GSM network. This issue is at intersection between legal, carrier and manufacturer development areas, see my quest of figuring out the support status.
You may be better served by XPERIA XZ1 Compact.
