What happened to Xperia Actions?

I changed from Xperia Premium to Xperia XZ3 and I´m really disapponted.

With Xperia XZ3 I lost Xperia Actions, the one and only way to start/stop  airplane mode automatically by time and location. Sony, Why do you strip all this good functions of your phones.

If I want a pure android phone I can buy Google Pixel.

Will this feature come back? Is there any substitution without using google assistant which wil collect all my data, or without rooting?

Kind regards

Which in return may have it's impact on your sleep.

Hi @Suidae,

Did you mostly use Xperia Actions to have your phone enter a silent mode at a specific time? You can setup the Do not disturb mode the same way by creating a new rule, or adjust the one called "Sleeping" if you go to Settings > Sound > Do not disturb > Turn on automatically > tap on "Sleeping" or "+ Add rule". Here you can tell the device to turn off the sound at a specific time and then automatically turn this mode off at a certain time.

In Settings > Sound > Do not disturb, you will find some additional customization, such as calls from contacts, or starred contacts to go through the silent mode.

You can also take a look in the Google Play store and see if you find any application that can do almost the same things as Xperia Actions did.

I hope that helps and I appreciate your comments and will forward them to the relevant departments.

Please do forward to Sony. I just don't want to use a 3rd party app that can potentially sell my info or have ads.

Drop features left and right, we as users notice.

Remember the initial reason for a phone is to make calls, but do we really use it to make calls anymore? No, it's all the features, tricks, and apps that are part of our daily lives. With your 6 months mobile cycle, umm our lives last longer than that.

Let us SWOT this:

Strengths: Global user base, Other industries brands (Sony Pictures, Alpha Cameras, Play Station, Sony Music, Sony TVs), simple user interface, the name.

Weakness: Discoverability, Limited reach in US market, Low engagement

Opportunities: Emerging markets, International expansion, tighter integration with owned apps, higher adoption in Western markets.

Threats: cannibalization of owned apps, competition, user backlash.

Sorry Jonas,

but this isn´t any replacement for Actions. I used it to turn phone to Airplane Mode overnight. This isn´t possible anymore even with tools from Playstore.

Why does Sony strip good Features from phones an replaces them with silly features?

Heard that the Xperia 1 will not have Wireless charging. Is this crazy?

Think I won´t buy any new Sonymobile phone after 26 Years of Ericsson, SonyEricsson an Sony phones.

I will switch my private phone to Samsung wich e.g. is able to do calls with HD Quality with my Sennheiser Presence headset. Tested it on my work phone S8.

Hi again @pressefr!

That is totally fine, I just wanted to try and suggest something else, as Xperia Actions is not available, but it all depends on what you used Xperia Actions for of course! Slightly_smiling_Face

I'll forward the feedback and I understand that when some features that you and other users used a lot on your previous Xperia devices is not available when you buy a new Xperia device, it will be a disappointment.

Hi @Suidae,

Oh, I see, yeah, I'm not sure if there any applications available that will activate the air plane mode for a period of time, or a set period, but I'll take your word for it as you have probably ventured more into this than I have, as I don't use such a function!

I'm afraid that I don't know why certain decisions are made and why some features are removed, as  it's not me making these decisions, but as I wrote to @pressefr, I do understand that this can be very disappointing, and your comment further confirms this.

I'll make sure to forward your feedback as well, but I can't make any promises.

Yes, take action to ask actions back.

I did a gaming session of Mobile Legends earlier today: a wall of texts from group-text bombarded me about organizing a birthday. God, stop these notifications! Oh that's right, they canabolized no notifications while Gaming. A feature I guess will be re-implemented in the Xperia X1 independent Gaming Setting app, along with game recording.

Can y'all least consolidate it in Notification Setting to set times (sleeping) and blacklist certain apps while running.

@Jonas whatever ensues, big up to the team in Lund for having written some cracking code(assuming they did the SMC apps). I brazenly assume I'm a rare case, but I've always enjoyed the 'crapware' that came with my Sony devices.

Big up to you for siding with us. Cheers.

@pressefr, that sounds very annoying indeed. Slightly_frowning_Face

I guess you could enable Do not disturb and turn on "No visuals or sound from notifications" but not the most optimal way of doing it.

@Suidae, That is a very good question and I can't really answer that as I'm not 100% sure, but it would make sense that most of the Sony apps are coded in Lund.

I have always been in the boat where there can't really be too many features, as long as I can turn off the ones I don't want to use or like. As I mentioned in my previous post as well, if you are a previous Xperia owner/user and then you change to a newer model and some features are no longer available, it can have an impact on how you use your device.

Thanks again guys and have a great Tuesday and Happy Easter! Slightly_smiling_Face

I'm trying to backtrack Xperia Actions: Abroad.

Within the Abroad features you're capable nub background data not be used when the phone is off or in multi-tasking in between switching apps.

Now how do I check if those features are on/off without Xperia Actions?

Like having a game to continue loading when the screen turns off, or switch between apps.
